- Church Centre built and opened.
1972
- Centenary of stone laying. Archbishop of Canterbury preached.
1974
- Ninth Vicar inducted, James Watts.
1975
- Visit of Miss Pat Lelliot (our SIMS link) from Chile.
- St. James' Youth Orchestra performs for the first time on 28 December.
1976
- Summer Fete and Christmas Bazaar introduced into the Church Calendar.
- Church re-wired and new lighting installed in August.
1977
- Dedication to the Festal Pulpit Fall and book markers (to mark the Queen's Silver Jubilee), in July.
- Holiday Club in August led by Capt. C. Taylor and Capt. D. White, of the Church Army.
1978
- Archbishop of Canterbury preaches on 12 March.
- New Hymn Books "100 Hymns for Today" donated in memory of Mrs. Whybrow in June..
1979
- Church boiler converted from fuel oil to gas burning in September.
